Our history

Salsa Agrícola S.L. (Salsa Agrícola), was founded in 2004, as a subsidiary of Sociedad Azucarera Larios S.L., this company taking charge of the Group’s rural lease property and avocado-growing estate management.

Today Salsa Agrícola is one of the main avocado producers in La Axarquía region.

The rural lease of land for free cultivation business began when Sociedad Azucarera Larios S.L.’s sugarcane production agribusiness came to an end in the different refineries in the region of La Axarquía, on the eastern coast of Málaga.

This activity has three main objectives: economic, promoting the area’s agricultural land and supporting its important agricultural production; social, based on the area’s long tradition of farming on small plots; and environmental, by means of soil conservation, thus improving the landscape and avoiding risks of erosion and fires.

Currently, more than 400 hectares are leased annually for crops of all kinds of vegetables, mainly potatoes, which is the priority crop of the area, but also lettuce, tomatoes, cauliflower and many other fruits.

Direct farming through planting avocado trees, which obtains excellent results for the region due to the export of high-quality fruit to European markets. At present, there are five estates on the eastern coast of Málaga, with over 60 hectares of their own crops, equipped with state-of-the-art farming techniques..
