This is how we prepare the mango season at Salsa Agrícola

July marks the beginning of a decisive stage on our farms in the Axarquía region of Málaga. The Osteen, Palmer, and Keitt varieties—now in their fifth year of development and facing their third productive harvest—already show advanced fruit development. Everything points to a promising season, the result of months of careful planning and a constant commitment to agricultural excellence.

Technical review and agronomic management

At this stage, we activate a detailed monitoring and management protocol that allows us to ensure product quality ahead of the harvest, scheduled to begin in late August and continue throughout September. The main tasks currently underway include:

  • Plot-by-plot crop load assessment, to evaluate the overall condition of the orchard and balance the trees’ productive effort.

  • Irrigation and fertilization management, aimed at maintaining fruit size, preventing water stress, and promoting uniform ripening.

  • Application of final preventive treatments, ensuring the fruit reaches harvest time in optimal sanitary condition.

Season preparation

With the fruit in full development and the trees at a crucial stage, August will focus on the operational organization of the season. During this period, we will address:

  • Coordination with harvesting staff and logistics teams, to ensure an efficient, incident-free harvest.

  • Commercial planning with clients, defining volumes, estimated delivery dates, and required quality standards.

Healthy fruit, good size, and excellent quality

The sustained effort throughout the entire agronomic cycle now translates into a balanced production, with healthy fruit of good size and excellent organoleptic quality. The region’s climatic conditions, combined with specialized technical management, once again confirm that the Axarquía of Málaga is a privileged environment for subtropical mango cultivation.

Commitment to excellence

At Salsa Agrícola, the mango season does not begin at harvest time—it starts much earlier. It begins with careful observation of the land, respect for the crop’s natural rhythms, and professional management at every stage. This is the foundation on which we build sustainable, efficient, high-quality production.
